looking at the garden

I took these images of our garden a few weeks back, in love with the vivid hues around at the time. Of course these flowers have mostly faded now, the garden changes so quickly, the bright oranges of early May have withered to be replaced by other colours and shades. As I look around the garden I see plants that work together, others that don't, plants I'd like to move, plants I wish would multiply, others I need to tame. I can't stop looking, learning and planning, this garden excites me so much!

lately

A little bit of green from our garden and elsewhere. We can't keep ourselves out of the garden lately. Every evening we potter about outside, a mix of jobs and a little relaxation - it's feels so good!

  • as I wait for the train, I can't help but look up at the vivid green of the trees
  • our garden is bursting with life and colour, a new plant seems to be showing off every day
  • each of our beds has a different colour theme
  • how sweet is this aricula theatre at the Geffrye Museum
  • serious fern envy, in the garden of the Geffrye Museum
  • back in our garden

an abundance of blue, pink and white

Lou of Little Green Shed, has started her series Nature in the Home up again. I couldn't resist joining in. Nothing fancy just a few flowers from the garden. If you're familiar with these: alkanet [pentaglottis sempervirens], red valerian [centranthus ruberand cow parsley [anthriscus sylvestris], you'll know they grow in abundance and I can easily spare a few armfuls here and there! For me this little group signal the start of summer, as they take hold of the garden.

looking back: april blooms

The garden a few weeks back, most of these blooms have faded and gone, and different plants have stepped up to the stage. But since it's pouring with rain out there today, I'm happy to simply look back and enjoy and old but sunny day.

lately

I'm a little obsessed with plants these days. You may well have noticed here on the blog!

  • Best way to pass time on the train, The Plant journal
  • bluebells peeking through the lavender
  • more plants in the studio
  • a pretty auricula, named Argus
  • a lonely plant on the tracks
  • making moodboards
  • it's not just me, Mouse loves the garden too
  • taking over the spare room
